The Cleansing Diet
While you are in the cleansing cycle, there are some foods you need to avoid. Actually, it is a good thing to always consume the foods only occasionally, not on a regular basis. Doing so will get you right back into the clogging colon syndrome.
Coffee, black teas, Coke Pepsi and other soft drinks- Potato chips, oily, salty junk foods
- Cookies, doughnuts, cakes and milk chocolate
- Fast foods that are fried, grilled or over-processed
- Ramen and other quick, starchy foods
- Pasteurized milk
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Rice- only 2-3 servings a week at most
Be sure to take supplements. Your first cleansing can leave you feeling exhausted and can be stressful to your body. Expect feeling a little sick, but if it lasts more than a day, consider adding:
- A probiotic to restore the good bacteria back into your digestive tract. Latero-Flora or one from the Garden of Life are good choices. Kefir is an organic option.
- Raw egg yolks may sound disgusting, but mixed with a glass of rice milk or freshly squeezed veggie/fruit juice can make it palatable. Also consider using egg yolk as a salad dressing. It has no taste. But it is powerful. Start with a teaspoon a day and gradually increase your intake. Or try Yeast Flakes instead.
- Healthy oils such as fish oils, olive oils, coconut oils or wheat germ are essential for the digestive tract, hormone balances, gland function and smooth skin.
- Vitamin C and B’s are necessary, especially in the morning to lessen the sleepy effects.
